The Phantom 4 Pro camera comes with a 1-inch 20MP Exmor R CMOS sensor, aperture control (f2.8-f11) and a mechanical shutter with a max speed of 1/2000s that eliminates the rolling shutter distortion which can occur when taking images of fast moving subjects or when flying at high speed.

The 1-inch 20-megapixel CMOS sensor in the Phantom 4 Pro camera is almost four times the size of the Phantom 4's 1/2.3in sensor. The larger sensor captures more information in every pixel and improve the dynamic range, the signal-to-noise ratio, and the low light performance.

The powerful video processing supports H.264 4K videos at 60fps or H.265 4K at 30fps, both with a 100Mbps bitrate. With the Phantom 4 Pro camera you can shoot 20MP photos to catch the perfect moment.

The FlightAutonomy system of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro is made up of 10 components including seven cameras – two forward, two rearward (new) and two downward vision sensors and the primary camera; 2 infrared sensors (new), placed on the left and right sides of the drone; dual-band satellite positioning (GPS and GLONASS); two downward facing ultrasonic rangefinders; redundant IMUs and compasses and a group of powerful, specialized computing cores. This system gives the Phantom 4 Pro a total of five directions of obstacle sensing and four directions of obstacle avoidance, protecting it from obstacles in its path.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro camera drone is the first DJI quadcopter to use an infrared sensing system. The infrared sensors are placed on the left and right sides of the drone and measure the distance between the drone and any obstacles using infrared 3D scanning. The infrared sensors have a horizontal field of view of 70°, vertical field of view of 20° and a maximum range of 7m.

The three sets of dual vision sensors form a six-camera navigation system that calculates the relative speed and the distance between the camera drone and the surrounding objects. Using this system the Phantom 4 Pro quadcopter is able to hover precisely in places without GPS, when taking off indoors, or even when flying through windows with minimal pilot control. The front and rear sensing range of 30m allow the drone to plan its flight path to avoid obstacles or simply hover in the event of an emergency.

Thanks to the upgraded Lightbridge HD video transmission system the remote controller of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro quadcopter supports 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands and has a maximum transmission range of 3.5km (for Europe). The ability to choose between 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz allows pilots to cut through interference and eliminates image lag caused when flying in an area with extensive 2.4Ghz frequency use.

With the brand new intelligent flight mode - the Draw mode - you can literally draw the route of the quadcopter on the screen and Phantom 4 Pro will start to follow it while keeping its altitude locked allowing the pilot to focus on the camera control.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro camera drone can recognize and follow moving subjects like people, animals and vehicles and capture them while they are moving. ActiveTrack is now expanded with three new intelligent flight modes:

Trace – Follow behind or in front of a subject, avoiding obstacles automatically.

Profile – Fly alongside a subject at a variety of angles to get profile shots of the subject.

Spotlight – Keep the camera trained on a subject while the aircraft flies almost anywhere.

TapFly

As you know in TapFly mode you can fly in any direction visible on-screen with a simple tap. TapFly has also been improved adding reverse TapFly (TapFly Backward) that lets you fly in the opposite direction of the tap while automatically avoiding obstacles, i.e. tap in the bottom right corner of the screen to fly backward towards the top left.

Return to Home

The upgraded Return to Home mode allows Phantom 4 Pro drone to return home automatically while dynamically avoiding obstacles and even fly back along its original flight path. The Phantom 4 Pro is also able to adjust its flight path to avoid obstacles it has seen during its flight.

At takeoff, the DJI Phantom 4 Pro camera drone will record the scene below and compare its recording with what it sees as it returns, for more precise landing. It can also detect the ground to see whether there is suitable spot for landing. If any obstacles are found, or there is water on the ground, it will alert the pilot and hover at an appropriate height, helping the aircraft to land more safely.

Each intelligent flight battery gives Phantom 4 Pro a maximum flight time of 30 minutes. In the DJI GO app you can check the battery lifetime, the remaining flight time and more.
